Responsibilities : Local Government Service Commission

The Local Government Service Commission performs the following functions:

Recruitment, Promotion, Deployment, Discipline and Transfer of Local Government Employees on GL 01 to 17, except those delegated;

* Monitoring of activities of each Local Government/Local Council Development Area on Appointments, Discipline and Promotion of Local Government Employees on GL 01 – 06 in order to ensure that the guidelines are strictly and uniformly adhered to;

* Appellate body for all petitions from aggrieved Local Government Employees on GL 06 and above;

* Inter-State and Inter-Service transfer of Local Government/Local Council Development Areas Employees;

* Liaison with the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs;

* Submission of Annual Report of activities to:

a) All the Chairmen of Local Government/ Local Council Development Areas in the State;

b) The Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs and

c) The Head of Service

* Security clearance for Appointment to Local Government Service

* Processing of Contributory Pension Fund of Local Government/Local Council Development Areas Staff

* Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date Seniority List and Nominal Rolls for the Local

Government Service as a whole

* Any other duty as may be assigned by the Governor
